I started with bikes over 10 years ago. I started with a Honda Fury. It was their version of a chopper. Went down to bike week and started seeing the rise of the Harley Baggers. So I kept the Fury for about 1 1/2 years and then went down to Harley and Bought my first bagger. It was a 2011 Ultra Limited, red/merlot. My friends were asking why I bought a grandpa bike but I had a vision. I started how most did, by checking ebay and buying body parts I thought would make my bike look great. My brother came up with an idea to paint my bike with a heat sensitive paint. So when cold the bike would be black and then when it was warm it would show all the graphics.
I installed a 21″ spoked wheel and did a 6 speaker JL Audio Marine stereo system on the bike. With that paint job I thought I was ready and started to enter some shows. That bike was not winning, and with the intense sun down here in Florida, the paint job stopped changing. Going to shows I was looking at the bikes that placed and started to see why… new body kit was in the works!
I found a local painter, Dwane from Viking Cycle Art. I told him I wanted a show winner. Dwane suggested the BADDAD Body kit, and mixed up a custom tangelo orange for the bike. I kept improving the bike and it started winning awards at almost every show it entered. Highlights were winning The 21″ wheel class at the Baddest Bagger show during Bike week in Daytona. I Won its class 2 times at the Rats Hole show in Daytona at Bike week and Biketoberfest, and being featured on the cover of American Iron magazine with a big spread on the bike in that issue.
About this time the Bagger Audio scene was just starting. Throughout this time showing the bike, it has always evolved as a show bike and so has the audio. It started with that 6 – 6.5″ JL Audio speakers powered by a JL audio amp, To a 2 amp system, then a 3 amp system, then to a 4 amp system. One show I went to was Bikes on the Beach in Miami. They had a stereo comp at their show and I came home with the win in the 21″ wheel class for the Bike show and also with the win in my class for the stereo competition.
